RER Chapter 16 part 2

    The contract and the advertisement content should actually be given to the actor a day in advance but since Chu Feng was now a senior in high school it was very rare for him to have time to shoot and they could only squeeze time on the weekend for the shooting.

 The makeup artist Kitty working on Chu Feng was also one of the top makeup artists in the circle. Chu Feng had also worked with Kitty in his past life and knew she was a very cheerful woman.

 Seeing Chu Feng, Kitty smiled, “Director You, where did you get this handsome boy? He looks more suitable for the role than the previous one.”

    Director You smiled proudly while presenting Chu Feng to her, “This is Sister Xin’s son.”

    “I heard my mother mention that once when my mother did a magazine cover, you did her makeup and she was very satisfied with the amazing result.” Chu Feng smiled in very polite manner. This happened about a year ago. In fact, he didn’t care about this kind of thing at first, but after entering the circle, he always had to improve his interpersonal relationship, so he made a special adjustment to his behavior to make himself more likable.

Kitty smiled and curled her eyes: “I was just a coincidence. It is my honor to have the opportunity to do Sister Xin’s Makeup.”

Song Xin has her own makeup artist, but that day the makeup artist had acute gastroenteritis and really couldn’t come. Director Min asked Kitty to come. Song Xin and the magazine were very satisfied with the result. It was a very pleasant cooperation.

Director You interrupted the conversation between the two people at the right time and said, “Time is running out, we will talk later so let’s put on makeup on Chu Feng first.”

 Kitty took a look at the time and really wanted to hurry up so she smiled and pulled out the chair to let Chu Feng sit down. She then opened the makeup case and started putting on makeup on Chu Feng.  Boys’ makeup is actually relatively simple, plus Chu Feng has a good foundation so it didn’t take much time.

    During this period, Director You sat next to Chu Feng and told him the content of the advertisement, so that he could know as soon as possible.

    This is a drink for students, rich in nutrition, and very suitable for students who are mentally overloaded. Moreover, it is suitable to drink at any time, which can not only supplement the nutrients needed every day, but also relieve fatigue and benefit health.

 And this time the advertisement is about the scene of students drinking this beverage at different times of the day.

Chu Feng was originally a student and a senior in high school. This kind of advertisement couldn’t be more appropriate. Although some stars can pretend to be younger, they are not as convincing as real students in their acting.

After telling Chu Feng what he was going to shoot, Director You specially took three bottles of different flavors for him to taste, namely blueberry, strawberry, and the original basic flavor. Chu Feng picked the blueberry bottle, and after getting Kitty’s permission, he opened it and took a sip. The taste was not bad though sweet, because most of the ingredients were walnuts pulp and milk, so it had a little thicker consistency, but it didn’t taste like pure milk. Because the blueberry pulp was added, the color was a bit purple and looked a bit weird. It might have been to prove that the real materials were used as ingredients, so this color was a bit weak.

 “How does it taste? I will give you a box if you like it and you can take it bac.” Director You asked him. The manufacturer provided a lot of samples, which would not be taken back so they would be distributed to everyone after the shooting.

  “Not bad.” Chu Feng replied still sipping the drink. The feeling of drinking this is like drinking fruity soy milk. He guessed that Rong Yun would like it.

“That’s OK, you take a box with you when the filming is over.” Director You smiled generously.

  Chu Feng was not polite and said, “Thank you.”

 An hour later, all the staff were in place, the group performers had put on makeup and clothes and the shooting of the commercial started.

 The first scene shot was aimed at a bottle of drink, and Chu Feng had to take the bottle of drink away as if he was on his way to school . This seemingly simple action had somethings the actor needed to pay attention to. During this scene the actor must keep the front of the bottle facing the camera while moving. If you picked it up normally, only the back of  hand will be left facing the camera when you give your back to the camera while walking away, which is very unsightly and not the objective of the ad. If the box of the drink was taken away in parallel to the camera so that the drink keeps facing the camera it must be done in a way that does not look too deliberate so that it wouldn’t seem too artificial to the on lookers.

    This kind of thing was naturally not difficult for Chu Feng due to his acting experience in his past life. When he took the bottle, the front of the bottle was still facing the lens, but when he was about to leave the lens, he turned his wrist to make the front of the bottle turn  fifteen degrees so that the camera could see the bottle. His fingers seemed to be wrapped around the drink while still exposing the name of the drink to the camera. Such a natural rotation gives people a sense of rush to go to school with a drink.

  This short shot of two or three seconds contained no problems.

Focusing on these little actions and body movements were all habits gained by Chu Feng from years of experience and the guidance of his seniors in acting  and slowly evolved into his subconscious actions when shooting so that the effects of the shooting can be without any sense of contradiction.

“Pass!” Director You exclaimed happily. At first, he wondered if he needed to instruct Chu Feng, but with this shot, he knew that all the instructions were not needed. Chu Feng performed very well, and Director You didn’t know if someone had taught him or if he was just that talented.

   The following shooting went smoothly. In the morning, they shot the scenes for breakfast and breaks after arriving at school, and in the afternoon, the shots of after exercise and before bed were taken.

  Chu Feng’s lens sense was recognized by everyone in the filming crew, and his performance was also very natural. He was the very image of a handsome and serious student and the ad was just like the realistic version of “Chu Feng’s Day in school life”.

In fact, Chu Feng also considered a lot in terms of lens performance. If Chu Feng were replaced by someone else, he would probably consider looking handsome and highlighting the image of a handsome student. This is also the usual practice of many advertisements. But Chu Feng did not make any extra flashy moves this time, but instead just showed the vigor and liveliness that a student should have. After all this was a drink for students, and usually parents buy things like this for their children who are students. Parents liked active, scholarly, healthy but not overwhelmingly flashy or egoistic children so only if the advertisement left a good impression on parents would those parents consider buying the drinks for their children to try. If the protagonist of the advertisement looks like a flashy young man with no discipline and interest in studying and winks at the camera from time to time then the parents would probably reject the image showed by the drink and then the drink would not be sold at all. Despite being popular in the youth, the ad would not attract the intended audience which would result in failure of the ad.

    This idea of ​​Chu Feng coincides with Director You, so even if Chu Feng didn’t need to talk or make any excessive moves in the ad, Director You was very satisfied with the results from the shooting of the ad.

As for the impression given to the student section of the audience then based on Director You’s years of experience, as long as the presentation of the advertisement was good, the colors were bright, the background music attractive then the appearance of Chu Feng was enough to leave a good impression in the students even without him trying to be cool on camera.

 And Chu Feng also deliberately curtailed his acting skills that might be too mature for his age and experience, showing a jerky side in some places so as not to make the experienced director suspect suspicious. After all, some things that require experience and couldn’t be explained by only natural talent of an actor.

    After the commercial was shot, it was already four in the afternoon. Director You invited everyone to eat together after packing up and he treated them for dinner.

After Chu Feng took off his makeup, he told Director You that he needed go back to school to study and would not go to dinner with them.

Director You also knew that for Chu Feng learning was the current top priority, so he didn’t force him to attend dinner. After wrapping a red envelope for Chu Feng, he asked his assistant to carry a box of drinks to Chu Feng’s school while dropping him off and then personally sent him to the car.

    After Chu Feng said goodbye to Director You he left quickly. He didn’t really want to go back to study but he said he would have dinner with Rong Yun, he would definitely not miss the appointment. The money for this advertisement would probably not be available until  the next Tuesday but the red given by Director You was probably enough for him to get a good dinner for Rong Yun.
